Just a little round up of 2013 happenings
written on Thursday, December 26, 2013 @ 5:09 AM ✈

Merry Christmas, guys! I know everybody's been really busy the past days because of the holiday rush, well, including me. I was really occupied with a lot of things-to-do including the completion of Simbang Gabi, different events and parties with friends. So today, I preferred to stay at home, catch more sleep, eat a lot of food and read books. Actually, I just started reading The First Phone Call From Heaven which was partly given to me by my sister. I do hope I'll get the chance to have Mitch Albom sign it next year.

Anyway, the reason for this post is the much-awaited summary of how my 2013 went. Let's have a recap.

January

Family reunion and commemoration of Inang's passing at Nueva Ecija.
February

Celebration of my birthday. Sleep-over at our house with Laine and Rezah.

March

Successfully finished my second year in college.

April

TRIP TO USA. Stop-over at Hawaii. Visited relatives + went to Grand Canyon in Arizona. Weekly trips to California. Stayed at Mexico.

May

Disneyland with family!

June

Hollywood Sign + City Walk + Walk of Fame.
Start of my third year in college.

July

Just another acad month.

August

Cinemalaya with high school classmates, Patty and Eli.

September

Another acad month.

October

Interviewed Direk Jerrold Tarog.

November

Spent our sembreak in Nueva Ecija and Isabela.
Our documentary about seminarians received a recognition from Catholic Mass Media Awards.

December
Filipino Reader's Conference. Met Sir Eros Atalia!
UP Lantern Parade + Ayala Triangle Garden with friends.

A lot of great things happened this year which makes me feel so blessed. My thank yous are not enough to reciprocate all the blessings I received. I hope to have a blast again next year. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, 2013. :)

Filipino Readers' Conference 2013
written on Sunday, December 8, 2013 @ 11:55 PM ✈

Hello! This week had been a tiring week for me and I feel that the remaining weeks before Christmas break will also be. Anyway, I decided to pinch some time away from busy acad works. And right now, I'd be so glad to share to you my very first ReaderCon experience.

Carmella and I arrived at the Rizal Library of Ateneo by 8:30 am. The registration process wasn't that stressful, opposite to my expectations. After registering, the staff gave us the kit, then we went right away to the 5th floor to check the activities. There were a number of booths from different publishing houses. Also, some book clubs were given booths to recommend readers good books to read.

Meet my blockmate, Carmella. :)
Readers' Kit
Precious Hearts Romance's booth
Adarna Publishing House's booth were flocked by kids
Anvil Publishing House's booth. They gave free books to those who liked their Facebook page.

Visprint's booth
Bargain books!
Blooey Singson's booth. She was so generous to give free bookmarks and pins.
After roaming around the place, we attended the first session at the 4th floor. The speakers were Aly Almario, Eros Atalia and Angel Evangelista. Their topic was entitled "Don't Hate Me Because I'm Popular". We were just laughing the whole time -- that's how light the series of talk went. Of course, the best lines were from THE Eros Atalia. He even asked me about my zodiac sign and gave me a horoscope which he said will appear again on Capricorn next week. That's how he worked before on tabloids. Aly shared her journey, from writing online through Wattpad to finally had her works published by Summit and Psicom. Angel Bautista discussed how she got into writing from being a concert prod staff. The next session we attended was past lunch, again with Sir Eros Atalia and Kate Evangelista. They talked about the books that they currently read and those that they already have read.

Readers can write their favorite authors and books!

I also brought home a lot of freebies like bookmarks and pin. I also won a free book from the raffle. I was just sad because Ramon Bautista was not able to attend. But still, it was a fun Saturday! :)

The Gary Lising book was from Anvil; An Appetite for Wonder was from the raffle and I bought The Undomestic Goddess for just P20.
