It has been a month already, I think, since Nathaniel Cruz, commonly known as Mang Tani, left the country. Reports say that his family is now in Australia since he accepted the job offered to him. Honestly, at first, I became sad but then, I'm trying to understand his situation. I know that he had served the country for countless years already and he deserves to make his own decision for the good of his family too. But then, loosing him is quite hard for most of us because he is really a big help most specially during typhoons.
I always dream to interview Mang Tani; I wanted to go to PAGASA and learn further about the weather. How I imagine myself as a journalist, years from now, conversing with Mr. Nathaniel Cruz. Too bad. One year before college, he left. Now, somehow I feel envious to all these journalists who got the chance to converse with him before. They were sad too. Exactly the same feelings as mine. It's regretful loosing such an excellent government worker like him. :(
Before I end this post, I would like to give you the link of a blog post about Mang Tani. She's really lucky because the whole family of Mr. Nathaniel Cruz read it and they also left comments. Those comments really touched my heart. :( [mang tani, silver lining ]

Thank you for acknowledging the dedication my dad puts into his work because appreciation means a lot to him. I know for sure that he hardly failed to answer a call from anyone anytime of the day because even when we’re out for dinner, he would gladly take the call. Even if it means waking at 5:30 A.M, he would graciously accept anyone’s call. Never did he reject a call because he knows how important it is for people to know what is happening specially when typhoons are at sight. He never gets tired of his work. Sometimes, he would be at the office 24/7. He would go home just to change clothes and when he would fetch us from school then he would go back again to the office. And even when he’s at home, he hardly has time for himself because right after we eat dinner, you can see him facing his laptop and doing office works. He just never gets tired of doing work. If only people in the government have the same dedication as him, then things would definitely change for the better. Regarding his going abroad, one thing’s for sure and will never change – IT WAS NEVER ABOUT MONEY. If it’s only for the money, he would have left PAGASA earlier. But no. He loved his work here in PAGASA so much. But there are things we cannot change and so the best way we know of is to accept them and move on. But although he’s now out of PAGASA, he never abandoned it. He still thinks of the welfare of PAGASA and how he could help it to change for the better.
I’m really proud of my Dad and how he has changed the face of PAGASA. And it’s because of you, and some others, who appreciate all his efforts that make my dad continue to be the best forecaster that he can be. Thank you very much.
Mang Tani's wife's comment: Thanks for the nice words accorded to Mang Tani and as his wife i can really say that during his stay in PAGASA he did all the best he can to serve the country and the people. there was no instance that i can remeber that he complained of his work and for that we his family is very proud of MANG TANI. We thank all the people who appreciated what he has done for the country.

Maraming salamat Princess sa mga magagandang salita na iyong pinapatungkol sa akin. Nais ko ring pasalamatan ang lahat ng mga taong kumikilala sa mga naging gawain ko bilang isang simpleng kawani ng ating pamahalaan. Nais ko lamang samantalahin ang pagkakataong ito na sana ay maunawan ako ng iba nating kababayan sa aking naging desisyon. Ako po ay nagpasiyang umalis ng ating bansa hindi dahil lamang para sa sarili kong kapakanan kung hindi mas higit kong isinaalang alang ang aking pamilya. Matagal po akong naglingkod sa ating mga kababayan at kayo ang mga saksi. At dumating sa punto ng aking buhay ang gumawa ng hakbang ni hindi madali sa isang katulad ko na nagsisilbi sa bayan. Hindi natin alam kung ano ang kahihinatnan ng ating buhay subalit iisa lamang ang ating minimithi. Mas magandang kinabukasan para sa mga mahal natin sa buhay. It's just that I was so crazy about Chris Tiu before and he runs a blog so I thought of creating my own as well. Years have passed, and I have grown yet I still keep my personal stuff here. Yes, things may change but one thing's for sure -- I will continue running this blog as long as I can.
