Filipino vs. English
written on Monday, October 6, 2008 @ 5:05 PM ✈

I’m just wondering... which of the two languages you prefer most? Filipino [it’s not actually Tagalog] or English? These past few days, these thoughts were just lingering on my mind. I don’t know why. So now, this would be the topic of my new entry.

Everytime I hear the line “I’m proud to be Pinoy!” a big question mark just burst into my mind. It’s disturbing actually. Why would one say that he/she is proud of her own race when he/she uses the language of foreign countries? [Did you get my point?] Instead of uttering “I’m proud to be Pinoy!”, maybe “ipinagmamalaki kong pinoy ako” would subject more. As a Filipino citizen, I should be aware of the things happening in my homeland. I, myself admit that I used to practice the English language [For example, in creating entries for my blogs]. Well, I prefer to use it here in my blog because not all blog readers are Filipino.[Hehe] Come to think of it, I have this friend from KL, Malaysia, who uses to read my blog also. Obviously, she would not understand the stuffs I’m going to blabber if I would apply the Filipino language.

But folks, I would like to confess something, I’m just confused. Well, when I saw my report card just recently, I was surprised to see that my English grade was far higher than my Filipino grade. I’ve got no idea why did that happen, when I used to balance those things before. Would this be…a matter of ‘identity crisis? [Haha]

So, I think that’s all. I just wanted to share my side. :))
